Last Sunday, a good blanket of snow fell in Jefferson, which is rare around here. I read that we got five inches.
By Tuesday, however, the fun was over. The white stuff began melting away as quickly as it came.
Early Tuesday morning, the little round table on my patio was capped with three inches of fluffy white snow.
By 10AM, the snow had melted down to a round block of dripping ice.
By noon, things got funky. The block of ice slowly slid to the downhill side of the table, reached its tipping point, and ended up like this.
I’m a Journalism major, so I don’t understand the physics involved here. All I know is, that hunk of ice teetered on the edge of the table long enough for me to get these photos.
By the time I put my camera down and looked out the window again, the ice hunk had dropped to its death.
And I missed the big moment.
