Why do I love a road trip? Because of the delightful surprises I encounter along the way.
Just last month, on U.S. 11, a few miles north of Natural Bridge, Virginia, I got a quick glimpse of this sign as I shot past.
Foamhenge? Only one explanation made sense: someone had built a replica of Stonehenge out of foam blocks. I turned the car around and sped back.
I was correct. At the top of a low hill, overlooking the empty dirt parking area below, stood this roadside masterpiece.
Even from a distance, Foamhenge was magnificent.
In the spirit of that old picture-is-worth-a-thousand-words thing, I herewith present my Foamhenge experience in imagery…
My hat is off to the talented Mark Cline, whoever he is.
Yessir, I love a road trip.
What a hysterical and wonderful find! I’m a lover of roadtrips too.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. The fact that you did is clear evidence that (as my granddaughter says) your brain is in straight.
