MADRID, SPAIN — In December, 57-year-old Jose Serna was in a cell awaiting trial on kidnapping charges when officers got a release order by fax, reportedly from a regional court judge. The fax was followed by a phone call, reportedly from a court official, corroborating the release order.
After an insistent second phone call confirming the order, Serna was released.
Upon further investigation, police determined that the fax and both phone calls came from Serna’s wife Gema.
When officers went to the couple’s home to confront Gema, they discovered Jose hiding in a hollowed-out sofa. Both Sernas were arrested.
OCALA, FLORIDA — When Ocala police arrived at the scene of a minor traffic accident involving a Krispy Kreme donut truck and another vehicle, the 20-year-old driver of the donut truck allegedly confessed to stealing it.
Randall Travis Roberts said the truck was parked behind a Walmart store, and he took it because he was “sick of walking” and “needed somewhere to sleep.”
Inside the truck were 338 boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts and a bag containing 10 grams of marijuana. Roberts told police the pot wasn’t his.
He was charged with grand theft auto and possession of marijuana. Apparently, Roberts did not get the munchies; he was not accused of eating any of the donuts.
