OMAHA, NEBRASKA — A Nebraska woman was arrested after she allegedly robbed a bank and posted an online video of herself bragging about the crime.
Hannah Sabata, 19, was arrested after police said she made a YouTube video that showed her boasting about stealing $6,000 from a bank.
In the video “Chick Bank Robber,” Sabata holds up a series of handwritten signs that detail the robbery. “I robbed a bank with a gun, a pillow case and a note,” read one sign.
In the video, Sabata fans herself with a wad of cash, says she will use the money to pay off student loans and go on a shopping spree, and displays a baggie of what she claims is marijuana.
Court documents say Sabata has a history of mental health problems.
MEDFORD, OREGON — Authorities investigating a break-in at a local residence say burglars made off with $10,000 worth of silver ingots, collectible coins, and electronics.
The perpetrators also shared a carton of orange juice from the refrigerator and left the carton on the garage floor. Uh-oh.
According to the county sheriff, the state crime lab was able to obtain DNA evidence from the carton, and they matched it to two suspects in an FBI database.
Charges have been filed against one man and are pending against a second. The loot has not been recovered.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A Chicago woman is trying to get out of paying parking fines totaling more than $100,000 for a vehicle she says is not her car.
Police have issued $105,000 worth of citations to a car registered to Fitzgerald, which was left for nearly three years in a parking lot at O’Hare International Airport.
Fitzgerald, an unemployed single mother, filed a lawsuit against the city, claiming the car, a 1999 Monte Carlo, belongs to her ex-boyfriend, an airport employee. She said she should not be held responsible for the citations and doesn’t know why the ex-boyfriend registered the car in her name. She said the car is only worth about $600 anyway.
A judge declined to rule on Fitzgerald’s lawsuit and told the parties to try harder to reach an agreement. Meanwhile, Fitzgerald’s driver’s license has been suspended because of the incident.
