1. The frog presses its eyeballs downward (the skull has two handy openings for this) to immobilize the struggling bug. Simultaneously, its tongue shoves the bug backward and down the hatch. Voilà!

4. James K. Polk. He was Speaker from 1835 to 1838 and President from 1845 to 1849.
5. The Red Lantern Award is given to the musher who finishes last in the Iditarod, the annual Alaskan dogsled race. Traditionally, a lantern burns day and night at the finish line until the last musher comes in. The award is a symbol of perseverance by mushers who may be sick or injured, but soldier on and finish the race anyway.
