He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful transportation of an alligator.
SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS — A Salem judge issued a restraining order that prohibits a business owner and self-proclaimed warlock from harassing a rival business owner, who is a self-proclaimed witch.
The order prohibits Christian Day, who calls himself “the world’s best known warlock,” from making harassing phone calls to Lori Sforza, a psychic and Head Mother of Our Lord and Lady of the Trinacrian Rose Church.
Day, who owns a magic-themed store, told reporters he never harassed Sforza. “Might I have made a snarky comment on the Internet once in a while? Sure, but that’s free speech,” he said. “All of this comes from business competition.”
Salem’s tourism industry, which capitalizes on its reputation as the home of the infamous Salem witch trials of the 1690s, brings in about $100 million annually.
PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY — A small green lizard, found by a five-year-old girl in a bundle of salad greens in the family refrigerator, has a new life as the mascot of the girl’s kindergarten class.
The three-inch-long American chameleon spent several days in the refrigerator before the girl and her mother found it inside some chilled tatsoi greens from a grower in Florida. After the lethargic lizard recovered, the girl took it to school to show her classmates.
The lizard now lives in a glass enclosure near the blackboard and so far has eaten several fruit flies and a live cricket. The students named the lizard “Green Fruit Loop.”
